I am currently a network/server engineer with a MSIS degree and have worked professionally in computer networking since 2000. I have a broad background in technology including multiple platforms(Windows, Mac, Linux), hardware, wiring, networking(DNS, DHCP, Switches, VLAN’s, routers, LAN/WAN, VPN, telephony/VOIP, NAS/SAN, VMWare/HyperV, programming, security, etc. I am not big on certifications unless they are justified to sell services. Most work places list certifications as requirements for internal jobs, which I completely disagree with. If an employer requires a certification, they should pay for it. Otherwise, you are responsible to pay up to a few thousand dollars every few years to renew certifications.
